Romain Pic

Postdoctoral Researcher, ETH Zurich

I am a postdoctoral researcher at Seminar for Statistics, ETH Zurich, under the supervision of Johanna Ziegel. I am also coordinating Bridging The Gap, an international research project on spatial verification for ensemble forecasts.

My research interests are probabilistic forecasts, their production using machine learning methods, and their evaluation. I am particularly interested in both theoretical properties and practical applications of probabilistic forecasts in meteorology.

Before that I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Institute for Statistics and Information Science, University of Geneva, under the supervision of Sebastian Engelke. I obtained a PhD in Statistics and Machine Learning from Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté under the supervision of Clément Dombry (LmB), Philippe Naveau (LSCE/CNRS) and Maxime Taillardat (CNRM/Météo-France). I have a Master’s degree in Statistics and Machine Learning from Université Lyon 2 and a Master’s degree in Physics of Complex Systems from Sorbonne Université.
